Time to introduce another face joining us for our Handel weekend in Wardour Chapel on the 21st and 22nd October. We are thrilled to have Antonida Kocharova as our soprano soloist.
Antonida is an Oxford-based barrister and soprano currently studying Vocal & Operatic Performance with Cathy Benson at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, supported by a conservatoire scholarship. She was the 2018 winner of the Roy Harvey Memorial Cup for best opera or oratorio performance at the Oxford Music Festival, and at RBC she took 1st place in the Edward Brookes Lieder Prize, 2nd place in the Delius Society Prize and was finalist in the Ashleyan Opera Prize, and Mario Lanza Opera Prize. Antonida was a soloist with The Cherubim Music Trust for the 2022 Purcell Weekend, and she is delighted to be joining again this year. Elsewhere, Antonida has appeared as a soloist in recitals in Oxford, London, and Birmingham, and in concert with the Oxford University Chorus, NewChoir Oxford, St Hilda’s College, and others, with works such as Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, Vivaldi’s Gloria, and Schubert’s Das Paradies und die Peri. Be sure to book your tickets now to hear Antonida singing some beautiful Handel, along with our Cherubim Chamber Choir and Orchestra. Tickets can be purchased on the website.
