A bequest for musical education

Cherubim is grateful to the estate of Anne Holmes MBE for a substantial bequest to be used to further music education.

Anne Holmes, who died this year aged 91, was a great musical figure in Grimsby. An accomplished pianist /accompanist /repertoire coach /highly popular piano teacher. Anne shepherded several generations of young musicians into professional and amateur love of music, and was Co-Chair of the famous Great Grimsby International Competition for Singers in the 1980/90s. The Trust had no prior contact with her, and at present we do not have more biographical information, but hope that it will become available.

Cherubim will be using her funds in several ways: to buy instruments bearing her name, one of which, a baritone sax, has already been purchased, three others are anticipated: to help our awardees with the purchase of their own instruments when they graduate from our scheme: and to develop a Cherubim Composer Concept, appointing a Composer in Residence to develop a contemporary dimension to the Trust’s work.
