Rosie Prior
Oboe: Howarth XL, #4552
Rosie was thrilled to have been awarded the Howarth XL Oboe by The Cherubim Music Trust, which is on loan from the music photographer Nick Rutter.
Rosie accepted a music scholarship to St Edwards School in Oxford for sixth form and is now in Upper sixth. She has played the Oboe since the age of eight and has her Grade 8 with distinction. Rosie has enjoyed throwing herself into as many school bands, orchestras, chamber groups, music tours, pit band performances that she could possibly juggle.
Until her move to Oxford Rosie was a key member of Chiltern Music Academy (CMA). One of the highlights of Rosie’s time with CMA was performing with the Concert Band and the band being awarded Platinum in the National Concert Bands final. Alongside the Oboe, Rosie plays the Saxophone, the Guitar and she also enjoys singing.
Rosie’s musical focus this year is to take her Performance Diploma and the Howarth XL will certainly elevate her playing and help her further blossom.
This Autumn term Rosie is thrilled to be performing an oboe solo in one of the schools evening chapel services. This is doubly special as the piece she is performing is ‘The Lord is My Shepherd’ composed by John Rutter – Nick Rutter’s father.
