Nia Avenell is a dedicated young musician and performer. Starting violin at age five, they also excel in viola. A Specialist Musician at Wells Cathedral School (WCS) under Robert Salter, Nia is funded by the Music and Dance Scheme (MDS). Their passion for musical theatre shines through in their long-term involvement with the National Youth Music Theatre (NYMT), where they have performed both on stage and in the pit for shows like "Ragtime" and "The Hunchback of Notre Dame." This August, in their 5th season with NYMT, they are excited to play viola in Sondheim's 'Into The Woods' at Southwark's Elephant theatre.
Nia's experience includes extensive orchestral work with the National Children's Orchestras of Great Britain and WCS Symphony Orchestra, they have a particular talent for chamber music, developed at a young age through Pro Corda where they first tried and fell in love with the viola.
About to embark upon conservatoire applications Nia is eager to further their training as an actor-musician, combining their musical and theatrical talents to make a significant impact in the performing arts world.
Nia is absolutely delighted to receive the "Bennett" viola, which they hope will enrich their sound and enhance their performances in both solo and ensemble settings.
