Diego Hoshino
Bass Flute
Diego's musical journey began in February 2017 when he started his orchestral music studies in the local community orchestra, The Nucleo Project, in London. Within just seven months of picking up the flute for the first time, Diego auditioned for the National Children's Orchestra (NCO) and successfully
became a member. He continued his journey, becoming a member of NCO for three consecutive years. He was also selected for The National Schools Symphony Orchestra, The Sistema Europe Orchestra, and The
Chineke! Junior Orchestra, starting from 2019 until the present.
In 2019, Diego received a full scholarship at The Royal College of Music Junior Department, where he studied flute and musicianship. He actively participated in a flute ensemble, wind orchestra, and symphony
orchestra. During this time, he also started volunteering at The Nucleo Project to help mentor younger flute players.
Diego's talent has been recognized through various competitions. He won the Youth Music Centre London Concerto Prize Competition in the Wind category in both 2018 and 2019. He was also the 1st Prize
Winner, on two consecutive occasions,(Outstanding) in the Wind category at the LVS Ascot Music Festival in the same years. He received a "highly commended" recognition in the Koechlin Flute Competition in
the year 2020. Additionally, he has attended masterclasses with renowned musicians such as Sarah Newbold, Simon Channing, Jess Gillam, Sheku Kannen-Mason and Gitte Marcusson.
