Casey-Joan Whyte

Bow - Richard Weichold ‘Richard Barker’

Casey is a 15 year old violinist originally from Lincolnshire, currently living in Watford.

After attending Chetham’s School of Music from the age of 9, Casey left to begin lessons with eminent violinist Leland Chen and to take up a place at Junior Royal Academy of Music Junior Jazz and Classical Programme.
Casey studies Jazz violin and improv with Tim Kliphuis and Iain Dixon.

Whilst at Chetham’s she won the Sinfonia Concerto Competition and was Highly Commended in the Chetham’s Symphony Orchestra concerto competition. 

Casey currently attends the Guildhall Young Composers Course online, and recently received 1st place in their Release Composition Competition for her song 'Laying it on the line'.

She has been lucky enough to have the opportunity to perform with eminent jazz musicians such as Tim Kliphius, Phil Robson, Tom Cawley and Matt Holborn as well as playing in classical masterclasses for Thomas Gould, Gyorgy Pauk, Callum Smart, Gwendolyn Masin and Gabor Takacs-Nagy.

Casey is a member of the National Youth Jazz Collective and spent many years with the National Children's Orchestra. 
She hopes to become a professional musician in the future, concentrating on classical, jazz and composition.
