Beth Peat

Violin: 19thC German, Mittenwald ‘school of Ficker’ & Hill bow in case

Elizabeth Peat began her studies at the Royal Academy of Music in September 2023, studying with Jonathan Stone. Prior to this she studied at the Music School of Douglas Academy and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Junior Department under the guidance of Bernard Docherty. In recent years Elizabeth has been a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, performing Copland’s Third Symphony in the 2023 BBC Proms. She was also a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland from 2018-2022 and has been leader of both their Junior and Senior Orchestras. During their 2023 season Elizabeth was leader of the West of Scotland Schools Symphony Orchestra and had the chance to perform the solos from Strauss Four Last Songs.

Elizabeth’s chamber music engagements have seen her perform Ravel String Quartet in St. Giles Cathedral in the Edinburgh Fringe and she will perform Brahms Clarinet Quintet in April with the Young Chamber Artists Scotland. Furthermore, she performed in the final night of Glasgow Music Festival with her school quartet in both 2022 and 2023. She has also enjoyed the opportunity of participating in masterclasses with quartets such as the Brodsky.

Elizabeth has also recently worked with ABRSM, recording for their new Grade 7 syllabus.
