Alex Sibley
Sankyo ‘Bennett’ flute
'I started music at the age of 3, being taught piano by my mum through the Suzuki method, I picked up the saxophone at age 7 and was taught by my father. 9 years later, I am in year 12 at Wells Cathedral SchooI and currently attend the Junior Royal Academy of Music jazz course every Saturday. I also attended the National Youth Jazz Collective summer course in 2023 and will be doing it again this year. This summer, I will be travelling to Perugia, Italy for the Berklee Jazz clinics.
Next year I plan to audition for a jazz saxophone performance course and pursue my dream of becoming a well-accomplished jazz saxophonist. I started playing the flute a year ago to help me with doubling skills in big bands and other settings and thanks to the Cherubim Trust, I have got a high-quality instrument to help with my musical journey, for which I'm very grateful.'
