Violin – Hidalgo Moya (1917) ‘Peter Caunce’ with Tubbs copy bow

Peter Caunce was leader of the second violins of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. He was presented this violin before he began his studies, and found it so sweet and powerful he continued to use it all his professional life.
Hidalgo Moya (d.1927) was a noted luthier in Aylestone, Leicestershire UK from 1890-1920. He trained in Mirecourt, France, and was considered a fine craftsman, with two models: the first being a Stradivari 1715 violin; then, after 1915, this model, the 1737 Guarneri del Gesù ‘Hart’ violin. It comes with a Tubbs-copy bow.
