Katie is our youngest awardee; at just 13 years old Katie has displayed such promise that the Trust decided to make an exception to our age restriction (usually 15) to support her blossoming talents.
Currently first bassoon in the NCO main orchestra (a year early) in 2023 and auditioned for 2024, Katie has been part of the Future Talent Development Programme since she was 9 years old performing the Rite of Spring opening solo for English Schools Orchestra in 2022.
'I have a Fox bassoon called Ferdy that I love a lot but he is not going to be good enough for very long. My teacher has talked about a better instrument. Being able to have something that I could settle with and enjoy through music college would be very special.'
