Cello - Lindsay, 'Bolton'
This 1897 cello Michael Lindsay with bow is placed with the Trust by the family of Marion Bolton, who played it herself. It’s suitable for a music college student, and has been greatly appreciated by the three cellists who have had it.
‘LINDSAY, Michael H. Born 1837 Republic of Ireland, died 1906, Worked UK. Musician and self-taught violin maker, active from c.1860 in Stockton-on-Tees. Medal awarded at the Liverpool Exhibition 1886. Stradivari model with original arching forms. Own golden-yellow amber oil varnish. Good work and materials.
