Born in San Fernando, Spain in 1983, Jose Luis is currently studying for a B Mus at the Royal Acadamy of Music with Tess Miller and Celia Nicklin. Hardworking, talented and determined, he is establishing the basis of a world wide career as an active member of the Spanish National Youth Orchestra, Alborada Wind Quintet and the European Union Youth Orchestra. He has already played all over Europe with distinguished conductors such as Bernard Haitink, Sir Colin Davis, Christoph von Dohnanyi and Sir John Eliot Gardener.
Jose Luis’ solo work includes recitals at the Chancellors Hall and the Dukes Hall performing Marcello’s oboe concerto with the Academy's Modern Instrument Period Orchestra.
His faithful ancient oboe has just cracked for the sixth time under the strain, Cherubim would very much like to find the funds for a new one!
"My preferred oboe would be a Marigaux which costs about £5000, made from granadilla, cocobolo, rosewood, or violet wood."
