Virgil Boutellis violin
Virgil Boutellis (20) was born in France and started the violin when he was 7. At 9, Virgil entered the Conservatoire National Regional de Tours where he studied the violin and the piano. He was also regularly invited by Robert Papavrami to work at the Pierre Rode Centre, Bordeaux (France).
At 12, Virgil joined the Conservatoire Superieur de Paris in the violin class of Suzanne Gessner and in the piano class of Brigitte Bouthinon-Dumas. He obtained his Gold Medal at 16 and was then accepted in the Conservatory's Professional Soloist Programme. Simultaneously, he worked in private lessons with soloists Olivier Charlier and Laurent Korcia (2001-2004).
1st Prize of the Vatelot Violin competition in Paris (2001).
Laureate of the Marcel Bleustein-Blanchet Foundation (2004),
Arts and Humanities Research Council Postgraduate Award (2005).
Believing that music and musicians prosper when nurtured by other cultures, Virgil decided to study abroad, starting with a year at the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest under Geza Kapas, whose master-classes he had been following regularly in Tours and in Paris since the age of 9. In September 2005 Virgil joined the Royal College of Music, London where he studies with Itzhak Rashkovsky. In June 2006, he obtained his Master in Advanced Performance with Distinction (outstanding) and is now in the Artist Diploma Programme.
Virgil is looking for a concerto-quality violin of £25,000+.
