Karl Oloniluyi-Abel – Bass Trombone
Karl started playing the trombone at the age of 11. He initially started playing in the school band at Crampton Primary School in Southwark. In that same year he commenced attendance at the Centre for Young Musicians where he remains to date.
Whilst at CYM Karl has played in various brass ensembles, in the Wind Orchestra and the CYM Symphony Orchestra and is currently a member of the London Schools Symphony Orchestra which recently played at the Barbican Hall and on tour in Japan in July 2003.
Karl is also a member of the Haberdashers Askes School Symphonic Band, regularly playing at school and fund raising concerts.
Karl also plays the bass guitar and has regularly played in jazz gigs, including at the Royal Festival Hall Foyer. He has also raised funds for “Tuba for Cuba” and played at venues such as Sahara Nites, Paradise Bar, and Goldsmiths Student Union. He also played at the opening of the Laban Centre in Deptford.
Karl is committed to honing and developing his musical skills. He is currently doing music A Level with a view to studying jazz at the Royal Academy of Music.
